From a far,
upon a bluff.
I’m quite sure…
if you look or listen hard enough.
Over-looking this trivial city
There’s a hush hush
Neither filtered or contained.
Just raw and alive.
Pulsing
reverberating…
Unaware by most.
See it there…
A glow
A flicker
A buzzing hum.
Home’s decorated with the merriness of christmas lights.
Illuminating this shambolically
inferior patch of land.
Cascading is its mediocre brilliance.
Into the dark it spreads.
Like a plague worming its way
Into human veins.
Sadly now
You realize it not.
For you have not yet taken
A backwards glance.
When you drive away,
Fleeting
Leaving
The smog of the city…
Miles upon miles
It will take.
before the orange haze fades
along with the atrocious smells
born from years of decaying waste
bred within ignorant hearts.
soon now, it shall subside.
All of it…
Vacate.
Leaving unpleasantness as a taste...
Thus, your burden heart
Maneuvers your feet.
mosey you go, back again home.
vacant now,
you most certainly are.
epiphany…
perhaps not.
Just the physical awareness
Of the darkness that blooms.
Leaving you drowning in its thickness.
Make haste now.
Driven by realization
you speed away.
Like a criminal flees from a scene.
Weapon in hand…
Ironic isn’t is…
How your grasp holds it.
The familiarity of your partner in crime.
Is it comprehension… ?
Or a surreal righteous subconscious
forcing you to feel….
The depth of these intended ways.
Regardless of right or wrong.
Mindfulness is born.
Pray you, for void is yet to come.
Can you feel it…?
Guilt.
Oh how blissful,
As it plummets within….
So this is what it takes…
An inner conception
That drives you to invert upon yourself.
Bleak rationality….
That justifies deviance
In the surrender of a murderer
And so it may seem…
This time though,
You’re not alone.
accompanied by the rumbling of an old engine.
You sink into a hypnosis state.
A wandering stupor
Instilled by slight drunkenness
And a traveling car.
Upon a meandering road
Past shades and shadows…
Light snow reflecting headlights aglow.
Only are you allowed to see
the faint strength provided by its length.
Distance it seems,
is something too deceiving...
Panic and fear stricken…
You’re left to fend for yourself
Blind to the world.
Unaccustomed to the crude truth.
darkness has a color…
of course, you realize.
This time though…
No shadows linger here.
Not even the slightest of grays.
Spectrums all the same.
Spoiled by city street lights
bar signs
and the unending parade of car lights.
Never did you have to fret.
For every corner, there was light.
Anxiety rises.
Childhood fears give way.
Feel them as they crawl
Creeping their existence,
like ooze as it slowly snails
its way into the realm of you.
Be brave,
for the mind is a powerful thing.
Bending you to believe.
What your eyes…
do or do not see.
I implore you…
look up.
find peace and solitude.
Perhaps hope will bloom.
Only then will you see and understand.
Dark’s darkest holds beauty
Far beyond belief.
Capture its essence…?
An endeavoring effort.
Van Gogh did try.
All for not.
Not even Chagall could catch
what common eyes beheld.
Within the filth of the city,
Your eyes did not see.
Even upon the bluff….
Smog still besieged you.
you could not evade or elude.
the city and its governed might.
Alas, now… !
when all is dark.
Instilled with fear and fright.
Humble your heart….
you’ve nowhere to go.
But to and fro.
Embrace what is not…
Let go what you could not.
Look up…
for there is your hope.
Here you have a vast ocean.
Millions to guide you in your ways.
Now carry on …
With new born insight and splendor.
Wish upon each and every one….
You may….
You shall….
For me,
my soul wish shall remain the same.
